Pintle Hooks are not indestructible.
Below is a bend caused by reversing a trailer at a greater angle than allowed by the pintle hook.
Take care when reversing at sharp angles. If too great an angle is encountered, straighten up and have another go at it otherwise you are very likely to cause the same damage to your Pintle hook as below.
In excess of 20 tonne stress loading has been applied to bend this Pintle hook.
