Electric Brakes

Electric brakes are the most common braking system chosen by caravanners.

The largest suppliers of electric backing plates for originally built equipment is Al-ko and Dexter.

2 sizes of brakes are installed according to the weight of the caravan or trailer.

• 10-inch brakes for caravans up to 1600kg
• 12-inch brakes for caravans up to 4.5t

In all installations, the following configuration applies.

• The passenger’s side is the left-hand brake.
• The driver’s side is the right-hand brake.

The parking brake is located and installed in the 12 o’clock position in order for the brake shoes to be correctly aligned.
