Poly Block Bracket
Poly block towbar bracket to suit Trigg and Treg trailer couplings. Ideal replacement or upgrade when your older model fails or has been sold without removing it from your car.
The new improved cast bracket is stronger than the older U bracket. No thread welded into the frame means no weak point.
Suits all Poly Block bracket couplings including Treg and Trigg Coupling.
For folks who have sold their vehicle and forgot to remove this coupling.
Note: 7/8 inch diameter bolt is an optional extra
Most Treg Poly Block bracket has a 7/8′ threaded rod that is welded to the U brackets and passes through the towbar and is bolted.
Important Safety Instructions
Poly Block brackets made in Australia but Australian manufacturers are 100% safe.
However, non-genuine Chinese brackets fail where the threaded part joins into the body when bolted on the towbar. Failure occurs during emergency braking events.
We found this failure was due to surfaces not being prepared properly and rusting prior to weld.
We suggest you inspect your existing car bracket and look for rust spots. Couplemate recommends all non-genuine poly block brackets be replaced with genuine car brackets or replace same with a cast model.
When inspecting what you would consider surface rust, you may find this surface rust goes deeper than you think.
Is the threaded part threaded into the body?
No, the thread is not threaded into the bracket and welded.
It is machined round and pushed into a round hole of approx 10mm – 15mm then welded.
We looked at the older style Chinese bracket many years ago and declared it a disaster waiting to happen.
To insure against failure, we recommend this car bracket, in fact, we guarantee it will not break.
