Nylock nuts, washers and bolts are an essential part of caravanning and camping.

Zinc and galvanised threaded hardware secure equipment from axles to electric backing plates and couplings.

Nylock nuts have become quite popular when used in galvanised u bolt kits due to their locking ability.

7/16 UNF nylock nut suits all 10″ electric backing plates and 9″ mechanical backing plates.

Nylock nuts are mechanically galvanised as opposed to hot-dip galvanising.

Note: Nylock nuts should not be used more than once. Further, they should not be installed with a rattle gun.

It is important to note that nylocks have a life span. Should you decide to remove them after tightening, the nylocks must be replaced because the nylon insert is worn.

Replacement occurs when the nylon bush inside the nuts becomes grooved by the thread. Removing the nut, actually, damages the nylon groove and causes it not to re-grip properly when re-tightened.

It is a great idea to re-tighten your u-bolts a few weeks after installation. Mild steel stretches a little and causes a little looseness in the u-bolt clamp.

You might be surprised to find 1/2 a turn in those nylocks when you check them again.
