American Tow Balls
American Tow Balls are required to fit trailers imported from the USA. We stock trailer parts including 2″ and 2 5/16″ tow balls to suit 3.500kg US boat trailer couplings.
Further, we now coat tow balls in an SA5 high corrosive resistant plating.
In our opinion, the Couplemate high tensile tow balls are the best on the market and an excellent investment.
Tow Ball Testing at Couplemate
Super zinc ™ is a triple-layered deposit and is the same colour as conventional blue zinc. SA-5 ™ zinc plating is a deeper coloured iridescent green and gold than conventional gold zinc. Both of these specialized deposits provide outstanding corrosion protection, far superior to conventional zinc.
USA tow balls can often be challenging to locate because they are not such a standard product in Australia. Couplemate carries good stocks of American towing equipment and can ship immediately upon your order reaching our desk.
We know you want your product quickly, we guarantee to dispatch this product immediately, excluding weekends and public holidays.
Shank and Ball Specifications
- 2″ ball – 25mm diameter shank – 3500kg Rating
- 2 5/16″ ball – 32mm diameter shank – 3500kg Rating
- Anti Corrosive SA5 Premium Coating
Please note: Standard Australian tow bar mount or receiver hitch mount have a 7/8″ diameter hole.
The best option for American trailers is to remove the US couplings and replace them with Australian equipment.
It is challenging to find American hubs, drums, bearings, seals and dust caps in the Australian market to replace equipment as it becomes faulty or for the same equipment to meet Australian Standards during registration.
