Tow Bar Receiver Hitch Kits | Trailers, Caravans & Campers
A tow bar receiver hitch kit is a set of components that allow you to attach your trailer or caravan to your tow vehicle.
Couplemate™ Trailer Receivers are made from Solid Cast Iron, improving the connection strength between your trailer and tow vehicle.
Over time, cast steel products are proven to be superior to fabricated/welded products. Welded ball mounts and hollow receivers can distort under off-road conditions and shock-loading events on the highway. When inverted, these hitches are at a greater risk of deforming.
Couplemate™ recommends that all off-road couplings use a solid cast receiver hitch. This includes:
- Stronger connection between your trailer and tow vehicle.
- Can be safely inverted to obtain additional height.
- Long-lasting product that will withstand tough towing conditions.
- Product purchases directly support Australian economy.
The Couplemate™ Trailer Receivers are one of the last trailer hitches on the market to be Australian-made. The receiver shanks are cast in Sydney, drilled and machined in our Brisbane warehouse.
What is a Tow Bar Receiver Hitch?
Your tow ball receiver is the bar that sits in your tow vehicle and connects to your trailer coupling, usually by a tow ball or a tow pin. Commonly also known as tow ball tongue, tow hitch, tow ball hitch, ball mount, tongue, etc.
Hitches are designed with different towing capacities, making it crucial to choose the right one based on your requirements. Ensure that your trailer weight is not higher than your towbar rating (e.g. if your tow rating is 3.5t, then the rating of your hitch must also be 3.5t).
For more information on the different kinds of trailer hitches, read our article: "Choosing the Right Hitch: Guide to Tow Ball Receivers."
The kit includes a cast receiver, tow ball, Class IV Receiver Hitch Pin with R-Clip to hold the receiver hitch firmly in place.
