These nylock nuts have become quite popular when used on galvanised u bolt kits.
These nuts are a mechanically galvanised as opposed to a hot dip galvanising.
It is important to note that nylocks have a life span. Should you decide to remove them after tightening, the nylocks must be replaced.
Replacement occurs when the nylon bush inside the nuts becomes grooved by the thread. Removing the nut, actually, damages the nylon groove and causes it not to re-grip when re-tightened.
It is a great idea to re-tighten your u-bolts a few weeks after installation. Mild steel stretches a little and causes a little looseness in the u-bolt clamp.
You might be surprised to find 1/2 a turn in those nylocks when you check them again.
