What are the Benefits of a Galvanised Disc Rotor?

Couplemate™ engineers increased braking capacity by removing the galvanised coating on the disc surfaces.

Coatings like dacroment and zinc on braking surfaces reduce braking efficiency.

Superior Australian-Made Quality

Couplemate™ boat disc rotor hubs are made in Australia: designed, cast, machined, and hot dipped domestically.

It provides superior strength and durability. Reliable disc brakes are important for road safety.

Installation & Safety Guidelines

Please check the condition of your boat trailer axle and trailer bearings before use. A wear-free axle bearing journal and a fresh set of bearings will maximise your rotor efficiency and lifespan.

Couplemate™ strongly advises using Japanese tapered roller bearings with marine-grade grease (not clay-based). Moreover, you’ll want to ensure your disc brake pads are in good condition.

Ensure wheel nuts are tight upon installation. Check and re-tightened wheel nuts and u-bolts after the first trip and every 5000 km/6 months after that.

Dacromet Process vs Hot-dip Galvanizing

Dacromet: In the Dacromet treatment process, chromic acid reacts with zinc, aluminium powder, and base metal to form a dense passive film that is highly corrosion-resistant.

Hot dip galvanizing: First, the iron and steel parts are pickled to remove the iron oxide on the surface of the iron and steel parts.

Products are then immersed in molten zinc solution.

Then, through the reaction and diffusion between iron and zinc, zinc alloy coating with good adhesion is coated on the surface of steel products.

The Application of the Dacromet Process and Hot-dip Galvanizing Process is Different

Dacromet is uses

  • hardware tools,
  • auto and motorcycle parts,
  • subway tunnels,
  • metal parts of light rail,
  • railway and electrified railway,
  • metal parts of bridges,
  • highways,
  • port machinery, and metal parts in high-heat environments around engines.

Hot dip galvanizing uses

  • marine industry,
  • railway,
  • highway protection,
  • power towers,
  • communication towers,
  • street lamp poles,
  • substation auxiliary facilities,
  • and light industry.
