Hexchex
HexChex is a specialised safety product designed primarily for trucks, trailers, and heavy vehicles to monitor and prevent loose wheel nuts visually.
Produced in Australia, it is the world’s first multi-size adjustable wheel nut indicator.
Key Features and Functionality
- Multi-Size Design: Unlike traditional indicators that fit only one nut size, a single HexChex unit adjusts to fit a range of sizes.
- Application: Used for fast visual inspections. If a wheel nut begins to loosen, the pointer on the HexChex will rotate out of its original alignment, signalling a safety issue.
- No Tools Required: The mechanism is hand-tightened via a ratchet system. Users click it into place around the nut.
- Thermal Warning: Made from a custom-engineered polymer, HexChex handles temperatures up to 150°C–160°C without melting during heavy braking. However, it is designed to melt if a wheel hub overheats due to bearing or brake failure, providing a secondary mechanical warning.
The 2026 product lineup consists of four primary sizes that cover roughly 32 standard metric and imperial nut sizes:
- 19–23mm (3/4″ to 1″): Smallest size, typical for light vehicles and small trailers.
- 23–30mm: Medium range for various commercial applications.
- 30–38mm: Fits most standard heavy truck and trailer wheel nuts.
- 38–50mm: Designed for the largest heavy-duty fasteners.
