Couplemate Base Plate 2.5T is a replacement for lost or damaged Couplemate 2.5T plates
The Couplemate Base Plate 2.5T is rated for trailers with a maximum ATM of 2.5 tonnes. When reversing, the reversing guide performs best when the vehicle is aligned straight with the trailer.
Reversing at extreme angles can place additional stress on the base plate and may cause it to bend or fail. For this reason, care should be taken to avoid sharp angles when connecting to the trailer.
Some users choose to fit an additional base plate to the front of their vehicle for tasks such as boat retrieval from the beach.
For trailers exceeding 2.5 tonnes ATM, we recommend selecting a heavy-duty reversing aid designed for higher loads.
The Couplemate Base Plate 2.5T is only compatible with the Couplemate Caravan Reversing Guide and Lock 2.5T. Only 50mm towballs are compatible with this base plate (both standard 50mm and high shoulder 50mm).
Fitting Instructions
The Couplemate Base Plate 2.5T can be fitted two ways:
- Place the base place on top of your receiver. Align the base plate’s bottom towball hole with the receiver’s towball hole, then thread the towball shaft through the created towball opening.
- Thread your receiver through the side opening of your base plate. Align the base plate’s bottom towball hole with the receiver’s towball shaft hole, then thread the towball shaft through the created towball opening.
