59mm Simplicity Dust Cap
59mm Simplicity dust cap is a replacement dust or grease cap.
The simplicity dust cap fits all simplicity-bearing kits.
Specifications
- OD: 59mm
- Total Height: 35mm
- Height Lip Insert: 7mm
Some hubs do not have machined chamfers in the boss and rear of the hub.
59mm dust cap insertion can be difficult. Using a pipe of the correct diameter can significantly improve the ease with which the dust cap can be installed.
Dust cap can become loose if hammered into position too frequently, even on the first insert.
Once the dust cap is home, stop hitting it. An extra hit can make it loose-fitting.
Question: Should I fill my grease cap full of grease?
Answer: No, the purpose of the grease cap is to catch excess grease when the bearing cavity is pressurised. Pressurisation occurs during rotation at high speed.
Ideally, the grease cap should be inserted dry. However, grease is generally in oversupply during the greasing process.
The grease will exit the bearing cavity at high speeds and during initial heating and cooling. Note: Grease never re-enters the bearing cavity once caught in the grease cap.
What is the purpose of the grease cap?
- To catch grease?
- Or to prevent the ingress of dust?
