This dolly fits Australian Parallel and 2t standard hubs, disc rotors, and drums.
It also fits an American 2.441″ hub, disc rotors, grease caps and drums.

Another name for a dust cap is a grease cap.
A common misconception is that the grease cap should be filled with grease when installed.
The purpose of the grease cap, also known as the dust cap, is to collect excess grease as the bearing cavity heats and expels lubricant.
We use these grease cap dollies in our workshop. Although many hubs are on the market, some lack chamfered entry points for the bearings.

This specialized tool is designed to install 63mm trailer hub dust caps evenly (common on heavy-duty 2T to 3T axles) without denting, distorting, or damaging the cap or the rubber grease plug during assembly. - ❓ Why can’t I just use a standard hammer or block of wood?
Standard hammers or flat pieces of wood focus energy on the center or a single edge, which easily warps or crushes the thin metal of the cap. A dolly distributes the impact force evenly around the outer flange to achieve a tight, square, leak-free seat. - ❓ Will this dolly fit all standard 63mm caps?
Yes. It is engineered with a precision-machined internal recess that snugly accommodates standard 63mm (approx. 2.5 in.) outer-diameter trailer hub caps, ensuring an accurate, parallel drive into the hub bore.
✅ The Do’s
- Align Squarely: Position the dust cap perfectly level with the hub bore before resting the dolly over it to ensure a straight entry.
- Use a Soft-Face Mallet: Strike the end of the dolly tool using a dead-blow hammer, rubber mallet, or copper mallet to prolong tool life and minimize rebound.
- Remove Rubber Plugs First: If your cap has a removable central rubber plug (for easy grease-gun access), remove it before using the dolly to prevent crushing the rubber.
- Keep Clean: Wipe the tool’s interior recess regularly to remove abrasive sand, grit, or old grease buildup that could score the metal surfaces.
❌ The Don’ts
- Don’t Use Steel-on-Steel Hard Slams: Avoid hitting the dolly aggressively with a heavy steel sledgehammer; this can cause the strike face to mushroom over time.
- Don’t Force Wrong Sizes: Never attempt to jam a smaller (e.g., 45mm or 50mm) or larger cap into this 63mm tool recess, as it will damage the cap’s lip.
- Don’t Over-Drive the Cap: Stop hammering as soon as the pitch of the impact sound changes, which indicates the dust cap flange has fully seated against the hub face.
- Don’t Leave in Damp Environments: Store the dolly in a dry toolbox or drawer to prevent surface rust from compromising the tool’s precision-machined inner lip.
