The 2.441-inch American Bearing Buddy is designed for boat trailers only and is suitable for disc axle braking systems and unbraked trailers.
Important
Do not use bearing buddies on electric braking systems. Excess grease enters the backing plate, coating the brake shoes and electric brake magnets.

Loose Bearing Buddy
If your bearing protector is loose, coat the contact surface with locktite for a temporary fix. Ideally, replace the boat trailer hub.
Replace the hub or disc should the problem continue.
It is important to note that bearing buddies are designed for the marine industry.
Question: Should I fill my grease cap full of grease?
Answer: No. The grease cap catches excess grease from the bearing cavity. Insert the grease cap dry (without grease).
The oversupply of grease is prevalent during the greasing process.
As a result, grease will exit the bearing cavity at high speeds and during the initial heating and cooling process.
Once caught in the grease cap, the grease never re-enters the bearing cavity. However, another greasing cycle can push it back through this cavity.

Finally, take care when loading grease through the grease nipple. The grease will escape through the rear seal when the bearing cavity is overfilled.
