2.441-inch American Bearing Buddy

The 2.441-inch American Bearing Buddy protects trailer bearings with a 2.441-inch (62 mm) hub bore. It suits boat trailers with disc axle brakes or unbraked trailers.

Important: Do not use with electric braking systems. Install the grease cap dry and avoid overfilling the bearing cavity through the grease nipple.

Loose Bearing Buddy

If your bearing protector is loose, coat the contact surface with Loctite for a temporary fix. Ideally, replace the boat trailer hub.

Replace the hub or disc should the problem continue.

Question: Should I fill my grease cap full of grease?

Answer: No. The grease cap catches excess grease from the bearing cavity. Insert the grease cap dry (without grease).

Grease oversupply is common during the greasing process.

As a result, grease exits the bearing cavity at high speeds and during initial heating and cooling.

Once caught in the grease cap, the grease never re-enters the bearing cavity. However, another greasing cycle can push it back through this cavity.

Finally, take care when loading grease through the grease nipple. The grease will escape through the rear seal when the bearing cavity is overfilled.
