Shackle Bolts
Caravan shackle bolts are a critical part of the suspension system, available in various sizes (including 1/2″, 9/16″, 5/8″, M16, and M18) and types, such as greasable and non-greasable high-tensile options.
Types and Features
The type of shackle bolt you need depends on your caravan’s suspension system and bushes.
Greasable Shackle Bolts: These feature a grease nipple, allowing for regular lubrication. They are designed for springs with steel bushes and help in reducing wear.
Non-Greaseable Shackle Bolts: These are used with self-lubricating nylon or polyurethane bushes and do not require external greasing.
High-Tensile Material: Most high-quality shackle bolts are made from high-tensile steel for strength and durability, often with a galvanised or zinc-plated finish for corrosion resistance.
Knurled Head: Many feature a knurled section under the head that engages with the shackle plate to prevent the bolt from spinning during spring compression and operation.
