Australian Made Axles
A number of Australian companies manufacture axles, specialising in different applications such as trailer parts, high-performance vehicle parts, and mining/agricultural equipment.
Australian manufacturers provide a wide range of trailer and caravan axles, from standard beam axles to heavy-duty 3-tonne (3t) assemblies. These are available in various finishes, including bare (natural) and hot-dip galvanised, with braking options like electric and hydraulic disc brakes.
Australian Made Axle Types & Capacities
Bare & Standard Axles: Entry-level options often starting from 39mm or 40mm solid steel, suitable for lighter loads up to 1,000kg.
3-Tonne (3t) Heavy Duty Axles: Designed for large caravans and industrial trailers, these typically feature:
65mm Round or 63mm Square solid steel construction.
3t LandCruiser-sized bearings (e.g., 30210 inner and 29749 outer) to handle extreme loads.
Galvanised Axles: Specifically for marine or corrosive environments, these are hot-dip galvanised to prevent rust.
Braking System Options
Electric Braked Axles: Popular for caravans and car trailers, these often come as complete kits including backing plates and drums. High-capacity 3t versions typically use 12-inch electric brakes.
Disc Braked Axles: Preferred for boat trailers or high-performance setups. They are available in:
Mechanical Disc: Simpler cable-operated systems, often rated around 1,600kg.
Hydraulic Disc: Powerful systems requiring an actuator; 3t galvanised versions are available as complete bolt-on kits.
