The 3t 2-piece brake drum is a 12-inch electric brake drum designed for heavy-duty trailer and caravan applications, with a capacity of up to 3000kg. It requires a separate hub and is available in various stud patterns, most commonly Land Cruiser 5-stud or 6-stud.

Two-piece hub drums must be assembled into a single piece. The two pieces comprise one inner hub and one outer brake hub.

The 3t 2-piece drum can be purchased in different stud patterns to suit various vehicle wheel types:
Land Cruiser 6 Stud: Features 6 x 1/2″ UNF studs on a 139.7mm PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter).
Land Cruiser 5 Stud: Features 5 x 9/16″ UNF studs on a 150mm PCD.
Ford F250/F350 8 Stud: Features 8 studs on a 170mm PCD.

Usage Notes

The actual hub portion is a separate component and must be ordered to match the required stud pattern and bearing configuration.
For use on corrugated roads, it is recommended to use the AL-KO Offroad electric magnet to significantly reduce drum wear, as standard magnets can cause quick degradation.

Your bearings will tell you if they need replacement during your inspection. If you see carbon black in the grease, you must replace your bearings, seal, and dust cap.

If you do not see carbon black, your bearings are suitable. If the grease looks hardened, they may need repacking.

Carbon black indicates that the casting of your roller bearings and journals has begun the wear process. These bearings will not be far from total collapse.

Another thing to look out for is your dust cap. Dust caps are a compression fit. If used repeatedly, the cap loses its compression and falls off the highway.

Couplemate recommends buying and installing new dust caps after checking bearings.
