50mm American Hydraulic Coupler to suit American trailers and drawbars.

Approved to Australian Standard AS 4177.3, this 50mm Coupling fits 80mm drawbars and replaces non-compliant American couplings.

The bleed pump screw is located under the coupling.

A hydraulic actuator is rated at 2000kg and suits tandem hydraulic setups or 2000 kg single-axle setups.

Note: One axle only requires hydraulic calipers.

The actuator fits either American calipers or Australian calipers.

The hydraulic coupler includes a reversing switch connected to the vehicle’s lights. The switch disengages the hydraulic braking system while reversing.

The Do’s

Do check hitch size: Ensure your tow ball is exactly 50mm in diameter for a safe, secure lock.
Do grease the mechanism: Apply high-quality chassis grease inside the head regularly to reduce wear on moving parts.
Do verify engagement: Visually inspect that the under-ball latch is fully engaged around the ball shank before towing.
Do use a safety pin: Always insert a heavy-duty clip or padlock through the handle to prevent accidental uncoupling.
Do clean the fitting: Wipe away dirt and grit from the internal spring mechanism to ensure smooth latch operation.
Do check load ratings: Confirm your trailer’s ATM does not exceed the maximum certified towing capacity of the coupler.

The Don’ts

Don’t use on 1-7/8″ balls: Never couple this 50mm unit to an American 1-7/8 inch tow ball, as it will pop off while driving.
Don’t force the latch: Stop if the handle won’t close easily; forcing it indicates the ball is misaligned or wrong size.
Don’t weld without care: If using a weld-on version, avoid overheating the body to prevent warping the internal locking spring.
Don’t ignore loose fitment: Do not tow if there is excessive vertical play; adjust the under-ball nut if your model permits.
Don’t use damaged hardware: Replace the unit immediately if you notice deep scoring, cracks, or a bent locking handle.
