Override Park Low-Profile Hand Brake

Override park low-profile hand brakes are ideal when conventional park brake assemblies are too high.

Specifications

Hole Spacings: 184mm x 54mm x 13.5mm
Low Profile: 140mm from the top of the plate to the bottom of the handle.

Installation Instructions

Install the brake plate under the override coupling.
The holes should align so the push plate is directly over the push assembly at the rear of the Override coupling. Mount your adjustable cable connector onto the lower arm bolt, then connect the cable to your brakes.
Adjust the wire enough to remove the slack from the park brake cable. Note: This adjuster does not adjust your brakes; it eliminates the slack from your cable. There is another procedure to change your brakes.

✅ The Do’s

Mount underneath: Securely sandwich the low-profile base plate directly under your standard 4-bolt override coupling.
Verify hole spacing: Check that your chassis or drawbar matches standard 182.5mm x 55mm bolt-hole spacings.
Confirm gate clearance: Utilise this compact 140mm low-profile layout specifically to prevent fouling rear-opening vehicle doors or tailgates.
Check ratchet catch: Ensure the mechanical ratchet arm catches flawlessly against the edge of the coupling body when pulled back.

❌ The Don’ts

Don’t overtighten linkages: Avoid tightening the main brake rod or cable to zero slack; maintain essential free play when the lever is fully down.
Don’t lock during transit: Always fully disengage the park brake lever and ensure it rests forward before driving or reversing.
Don’t alter the base plate: Avoid drilling custom slots into the structural base template, as this voids the Australian ADR safety compliance.
Don’t skip the lock nut: Always tighten the locking adjustment nut on the main cable assembly to prevent thread vibration over time.
