The Couplemate™ PINTLEHOOK-500 offers a versatile dual-towing solution. It allows you to seamlessly tow trailers equipped with either a standard 50mm ball coupling or a heavy-duty 75mm ring coupling, all with a single product. Engineered for harsh Australian conditions, the hitch body is constructed from premium forged SAE1045 steel, paired with a high-tensile HT4140 alloy tow ball. For smoother towing and reduced wear when utilising ring couplings, Couplemate™ recommends using the included tow ball protector.Note: If your primary application involves towing mainly with ring couplings, we recommend upgrading to the CM532 Premium Combination Pintle Hook.

What is a D-Value, and why is it critical?

Please do not dismiss the D-Value rating. Miscalculating this formula has cost transport operators over $100,000 in regulatory fines and liabilities. The D-Value defines the dynamic weight relationship for your specific truck-trailer combination. It dictates the exact legal weight limits you can tow based on the Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) of the tow vehicle.

How is a D-Value applied in the real world?

D-Values assign real-world safety limits. For instance, a 10-tonne trailer towed by a 10-tonne truck requires a D-value of 49kN. A 20-tonne truck towing a 6-tonne trailer requires a 45kN rating. Engineers rigorously test components to these dynamic values to guarantee structural safety under load.
