Learn how to Install a Towbar Shim Kit

When installed, these anti-rattle hitch shims secure the receiver shank, stopping your hitch from rattling within the tow bar. Watch the official fitting guide below or read a step-by-step tutorial. You will need a set of pliers to cut the unnecessary material, and a hammer to bend the plate.

Shim Kit Contents

When you buy this stainless anti-rattle shim kit, you will receive:

  • 2 x 0.55mm shim plates
  • 2 x 0.90mm shim plates

The Couplemate™ Anti-Rattle Shim Kit can be fitted to your tow bar in under five minutes. Installation is easy and requires no technical knowledge.

You will need pliers to cut the unnecessary material and a hammer to bend the plate. Why Does the Receiver Bar Rattle Occur?

Rattle occurs due to the space between your tow bar and hitch/receiver. Most Australian tow bars are a 50mm x 50mm box section. However, some tow bars on the market are slightly larger, creating additional space that can generate a rattling noise.
