Standard Tandem Replacement Steel Spring Rocker 60mm Bush – 18mm ID
Standard tandem suspension rockers are standard on many caravans.
This meant repairers had to purchase a new rocker, rather than just replacing the worn area. In our experience, the units themselves last a decent length of time. In almost all cases, the center is the first to wear.
As such, Couplemate™ manufactured this 18mm steel bush as an alternative to replacing the whole assembly when the bush has worn.
Rocker Arm Bush Installation
- Remove the old bush by placing the new bush on the outside; there is room under the old bush to push it out.
- Tap the new bush with a hammer until the old bush is entirely expelled from the rocker arm.

Given their material composition, steel bushes are robust and provide shackle bolts with a smooth, wear-resistant surface.
As with all steel-on-steel applications, you will need a greaseable shackle bolt and regular application of trailer lubricant. While maintenance can be tedious, proper greasing significantly improves the quality of your ride and ensures you maximise the life of your rocker-roller.
What You Should Check Before
This is a cylindrical steel bush with an 18mm ID, a 22 mm OD, and a total length of 59 mm. Please ensure these measurements match yours.
Moreover, you must inspect:
- The suspension bolts, nuts, and roller spring bushes (including the 60mm rollers).
- The integrity of your rocker and hanger bolt holes.
- The rocker-roller leaf springs themselves.

- Verify clear dimensions: Always double-check that your existing spring’s outer diameter measures exactly 60 mm, and that the housing accepts an 18 mm bush pin before installation.
- Apply correct lubrication: Use a high-quality assembly lube during press-fitting to prevent scoring or binding.
- Use a hydraulic press: Install the bushing straight and smoothly with a proper press tool rather than hammering it in.
- Check final clearances: Verify the rocker arm moves freely without binding once the new bushing is fully seated.

- Do not force the fit: Never force the 18mm bushing if the bore is misaligned, as this will distort the inner diameter.
- Do not reuse worn pins: Avoid pairing a brand-new bushing with a heavily pitted or worn rocker shaft.
- Do not mix spring sizes: Do not use this bushing configuration with standard 50mm or oversized 65mm performance springs.
- Do not skip the clean-up: Never install the new component into a dirty, debris-filled rocker arm housing.
