5 Stud Land Cruiser Hub with 9/16-inch or M14 studs, suitable for Slimline Bearings

The 5 Stud Land Cruiser lazy hub configuration is used on 14-inch to 16-inch wheels and suits a variety of NSK Japanese bearing kits.

Note: When installing 15″ or 16″ wheels on 39mm Round Axles, derate the hub bearing rating by 20%.

Upgrading 5-stud hubs is challenging in the best of times. You must take many measurements before buying your new 5-stud rims and tyres.

It is not unusual for customers to buy new Land Cruiser tyres only to find the rubber touching the trailer chassis. In this case, the solution is to buy a new axle.

We recommend NSK Japanese bearings for high-speed highway use and longevity. Check your bearings yearly for water ingress or black carbon deposits in your grease. Carbon black indicates bearing wear, so the bearings will need to be replaced. The carbon black comes from wear on the bearing’s casing.

Axle Bearing Check: Confirm your axle journals precisely match the Slimline bearing dimensions (34.9mm Inner / 22mm Outer).
PCD & Stud Count Match: Verify the pitch circle diameter (PCD) matches your specific LandCruiser, Jeep, or F-Series rim.
Stud Sizing Verification: Confirm if your rims require the M12 thread pitch or the thicker 14mm heavy-truck upgrade.
Bearing Lubrication: Ensure the included bearings are packed thoroughly with high-temperature marine or automotive grease before final assembly.
Nut Torque Sequence: Always tighten the included wheel nuts in a star pattern to standard factory torque, then re-check after the first 50–100 km.

Q: What is a “lazy” hub exactly?

A: A lazy hub is a non-braked trailer hub. It is used strictly to allow smooth wheel rotation without any internal brake drums or disc rotors, typically suited for unbraked trailers under 750 kg ATM or as the unbraked middle axle on multi-axle setups.

Q: How do I know if I need M12 or 14mm wheel studs?

A: You should check the lug holes on your wheel rims and the matching specifications. M12 is common on standard passenger/light trailer configurations, whereas 14mm studs are common upgrades for heavy-duty 4×4 Land Cruiser and American F100/F150 wheels that encounter demanding structural loads.

Q: Does the hub come ready to bolt on?

A: The structural bearing cups are pre-pressed into the hub geometry for your convenience. However, you will need to apply bearing grease to the loose rollers, slide the seal in place, and mount it onto your axle spindle.
