8-inch Swing Up Jockey Wheel
The 8-inch swing-up jockey wheel features a zinc-steel rim and a solid rubber tyre. It has a maximum static load capacity of 700kg.
It features a swing-away bracket for convenient stowage when not in use.
When choosing an 8-inch swing-up jockey wheel, consider your trailer’s weight, the wheel’s maximum load capacity, and its material. You should also make sure that the wheel is compatible with your trailer’s drawbar.
There are four types of high-quality Jockey Wheels in the 8-inch rubber range
- Bolt-on with a Clamp
- Bolt-on No Clamp
- Extra Height with a Clamp
- Extra Height No Clamp
- U-Bolt Swivel to suit 3-inch and 4-inch trailer chassis rails.
Choosing the right jockey wheel is critical. It helps in more ways; it helps manoeuvre the caravan, and lower and raise the A-frame drawbar bar when required.
Although most caravans come with a jockey wheel, it’s worth investing in a good replacement that better suits your weight rating.
If your caravan has a load capacity of 700 kg or below, this is a perfect choice. It’s easy to use, adjust, remove, and manoeuvre. Made of a zinc-steel rim with a solid rubber tyre, it comes with bearings.
We recommend this product for trailers having 4-leaf spring suspensions or smaller.
Note: Wheels are rated for different loads and have two functions
- Lift the caravan off the tow ball.
- To move the caravan to its location. When moving your trailer, do not forget to lower the stem for maximum efficiency.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the maximum weight capacity of this jockey wheel? This 8-inch swing-up jockey wheel features an upgraded heavy-duty rating, typically supporting a static load capacity of up to 540 kg (1200 lbs) to comfortably handle larger caravans, boat trailers, and camper trailers.
- Can this 8-inch wheel handle soft ground and gravel better than smaller wheels? Yes. The larger 8-inch diameter and wider tyre tread profile distribute weight more evenly, making it significantly easier to manoeuvre across gravel, grass, firm sand, and uneven terrain without sinking.
- What size trailer frame will the mounting bracket fit? The included heavy-duty swivel bracket and hardware securely clamp onto standard trailer drawbars up to 50mm x 75mm (2″ x 3″) or 50mm x 100mm (2″ x 4″) without drilling.
- How does the swing-up feature assist during travel? Pull the spring-loaded quick-release pin to pivot the entire assembly 90 degrees and lock it horizontally along the drawbar. This maximises ground clearance and keeps the wheel completely safe from road debris while towing.
Do’s & Don’ts for Safe Operation
✔ Do’s
- Do verify that the spring-loaded locking pin is fully snapped into position before raising or lowering the drawbar.
- Do keep the internal winding gears and swivel mechanisms well-lubricated by regularly using the integrated grease nipple (zerk fitting).
- Do place heavy-duty wheel chocks behind your trailer wheels before unhitching or operating the jockey wheel handle.
- Do wind the inner tube completely into the outer body before swinging the assembly up for transit to ensure optimal clearance.
✘ Don’ts
- Don’t overload the unit beyond its designated 540 kg static load capacity.
- Don’t attempt to drive or tow your vehicle with the jockey wheel locked in the vertical down position.
- Don’t rely on the jockey wheel alone to secure a trailer parked on a steep or slippery slope.
- Don’t leave the winding handle extended outwards where it could become a tripping hazard or strike obstacles during tight manoeuvres.
