Towing across Australia demands suspension that can handle extreme heat, corrugated roads, and heavy loads. Full Product Description
The AL-KO Enduro Shock Absorber is a premium suspension upgrade designed to complement independent trailing arm systems and traditional leaf springs. When you hit potholes or rough terrain, an unshocked trailer keeps bouncing, putting immense stress on your coupling, tow vehicle, and onboard gear. This shock absorber instantly dampens those harsh vibrations. By keeping your trailer tyres firmly planted on the road surface, it significantly reduces tyre wear and prevents dangerous sway, ensuring your caravan follows your tow vehicle precisely and safely.
Key Features
- Superior Dampening: Reduces trailer bounce and sway for a safer, more stable tow.
- Australian Condition Ready: Built tough to withstand extreme heat and corrugated outback tracks.
- Component Protection: Shields your caravan chassis and internal appliances from violent road vibrations.
- Enhanced Braking: Keeps tyres in constant contact with the road to improve braking performance.

AL-KO Enduro Shock Absorber — Do’s & Don’ts
Maximise the performance and lifespan of your premium AL-KO Enduro independent trailing arm suspension with these critical guidelines.
What to DO
- Match your colour variant: Choose the correct replacement shock colour/rating (e.g., Green, Red, Black) to match your Enduro system’s weight capacity.
- Orient correctly: Install the shock absorber with the correct side up (usually body at the top, rod at the bottom) as specified by AL-KO’s technical manual.
- Check stone guards: Keep the integrated stone guards clean and clear of debris to protect the shaft from pitting during off-road travel.
- Torque with load: Finalise the tightening of the mounting bolts while the caravan is at its natural ride height, not while hanging free on a jack.
What NOT to Do
- Don’t grip the chrome rod: Never use pliers or vice grips directly on the shiny shock absorber shaft, as scratches will destroy the oil seals.
- Don’t mix-and-match ratings: Never use a heavy-duty Red shock on one side and a Standard Green on the other, as it causes severe suspension imbalance.
- Don’t apply grease to bushes: Avoid using petroleum-based grease on the rubber mounting bushes, as it will accelerate rubber degradation.
- Don’t pressure wash up close: Avoid blasting high-pressure water directly at the shock absorber body’s top seals during washdowns.
