The Couplemate™ Ford Swing Away Spare Wheel hub is a swing-away flangeless hub with bearing cones.

Product Specifications
Couplemate™ manufactures Swing Away Hubs from K1040, a high-grade Australian steel. This is the same grade of steel used for stub axles in the 4WD Swing Away Rear Kits, ensuring a sturdy, high-quality product.
The Flangeless Hub is manufactured to suit the following bearing profiles:
The kits contain NSK-branded inner and outer bearing cones, our Australian-made dust caps, and seals.
Use tapered roller bearings on trailer and caravan axles as they handle a variety of awkward weights (such as spare wheels, jerry cans, trailer lifts, etc.).
Replace the 4WD swing-away spare wheel carrier if the weight exceeds the bearing limitations. This results in assembly collapse; if so, replace it with a non-bearing type carrier.
Couplemate™ recommends either the 45mm Slimline or 45mm Parallel model due to the added load caused by the fulcrum effect on the rear bar.

Installation Note
Bearing cups are already machined into the hub. Do not insert new cups into the hub when replacing the bearings for any reason.

- • Clear away mud, salt water, and road grit from the hinge assembly after every trip.
- • Check the tightness of all mounting hardware periodically to prevent structural play.
❌ DON’TS
- • Never tow the trailer with the **swing-away hub** in the unlatched or open position.
- • Do not force or slam the swing arm if it encounters resistance; inspect the pivot alignment first.
- • Avoid exceeding the maximum load and towing rating specified for this swing arm hub system.
- • Do not modify, drill, or weld the structural arm or hinge plate, as this voids safety certifications.
- • Never use a makeshift pin or bolt in place of the factory-supplied locking safety pin.
