This electric-over-hydraulic actuator acts as the core of your system, translating electrical signals from your in-cab controller into instantaneous hydraulic pressure to stop your trailer smoothly.
The Hydratek unit requires a hard-wired 12-volt DC in-cab controller (such as the Tekonsha P2 or P3) to signal the hydraulic pump. Please note that the Tekonsha iPrimus is not compatible. To protect your investment and maintain peak performance, Couplemate recommends plumbing your system with flexible, poly-coated stainless steel braided SAE hydraulic hoses. Standard copper or Bundy tubes can easily become kinked or damaged, restricting vital brake fluid flow to your calipers.

Which in-cab brake controllers are compatible?
The Hydratek actuator pump requires a 12V DC hard-wired controller like the Tekonsha P2 or Tekonsha P3. Always check compatibility with your brake controller supplier before installation. The Tekonsha iPrimus controller is not compatible.
Why do I need a breakaway kit?
Australian design rules legally mandate that trailers over 2,000kg (2t) ATM must be fitted with a breakaway system. In the event that the trailer disconnects from the tow vehicle, the breakaway kit must automatically apply the trailer brakes at full power for at least 15 minutes.
Is water damage covered under the 2-year warranty?
No. While the manufacturer guarantees Hydratek 1200 and 1600 PSI units for two years against faulty craftsmanship, water ingress from fresh or salt water is strictly excluded from warranty coverage.
