Truck pintle hooks, adaptors, parts and associated equipment can often be challenging to locate or out of stock.
Note: Buyers should be aware of fake Couplemate products for sale that claim ADR Compliance but have no testing data. Ask your supplier for a CTA number or verify that the product you buy is a Couplemate Genuine and safe. These products can have a Gold Top.
Products that are not installed when the vehicle is first sold are called aftermarket. Products that are installed when the vehicle is purchased require a CTA and is classified as an OEM product.
The reason is that pintle equipment is made for trucks and rigorously tested at a full load of 2,000,000 cycles.
Therefore, Pintle equipment over 3.5t must be tested on Australian roads; however, many Pintles and ring couplings have not been tested.
Ask your supplier for a CTA number or proof of testing, as untested products are usually cheap copies.
In other cases, some pintle equipment does not require testing. For example, tow bar attachments gain the rating of the tow bar. Other attachments have no test procedure.
