- Q: Are these backing plates interchangeable between the left and right sides of the trailer?
  No, they are strictly side-specific due to the design and direction of the integrated park brake lever. You must purchase distinct Left-Hand (LH) and Right-Hand (RH) assemblies.

- Q: Is this American-style backing plate compatible with Dexter brake systems?
  Yes, USA-style electric backing plates are fully interchangeable with Dexter-style and standard American 5-bolt configuration electric brake systems.

Q: Do the backing plates come with mounting bolts and nuts included?
No, mounting hardware is usually sold separately. You will need a specific 12-inch backing plate bolt kit (5x mounting bolts and nuts per plate) to secure it to your axle bracket.

✔️ Do’s

Do check the side designation (Left Hand or Right Hand) before bolting the assembly to the axle bracket.
Monitor the wear depth indicators (small holes on the front face of the magnet) to determine when it requires replacement.
Do use extended electrical wires to make wire joints in less exposed locations underneath the caravan or trailer.

Don’t mix American-style configurations with Australian-style components unless you have verified cross-compatibility for the specific system.
Don’t reuse old or worn-out mounting bolts; always install a new bolt kit to meet torque requirements and ensure safety.
Don’t let grease, oil, or brake cleaner contaminate the face of the electric magnet or the brake shoes during installation.
