NSK AL-KO 2t Bearing Kit Installation Guide
- ✓ Use Genuine Premium Components: Always verify you are using high-quality NSK bearings matched with genuine AL-KO 2-tonne hub specifications.
- ✓ Pack Bearings Manually: Ensure grease is forced thoroughly between the rollers, cone, and cage until it extrudes from the large end.
- ✓ Install Fresh Marine Seals: Always replace the rear rubber seals during a bearing service to prevent water ingress and grease leaks.
- ✓ Check Hub Clearance: Torque the castle nut to seat the bearings firmly, then back it off slightly so the hub spins freely without axial play.
- ✗ Don’t Mix Grease Types: Avoid mixing different brands or bases (e.g., lithium and sodium bases), as this causes grease breakdown and rapid bearing failure.
- ✗ Don’t Use Sharp Tools on Races: Never use screwdrivers or cold chisels to drive bearing cups into the hub, as micro-scratches ruin the hardened surface.
- ✗ Don’t Over-Tighten Axle Nuts: Avoid locking down the castle nut too tightly, which crushes the rollers, spikes internal heat, and triggers premature seizing.
- ✗ Don’t Submerge Hot Hubs: Never launch a boat trailer or drive a caravan straight into cold water immediately after highway driving; thermal shock draws water past the seals.
