AL-KO 2T Mechanical Forward Pull Caliper
This premium **galvanised forward-pull mechanical caliper** is engineered for high-performance braking setups across heavy-duty Australian box trailers, boat trailers, and caravans.
Key Advantages
- ✔ High Corrosion Resistance: Hot-dip galvanised frame body coupled with premium stainless steel sliding bushes and adjusting bolts withstands harsh saltwater exposure seamlessly.
- ✔ Rapid Heat Dissipation: The ventilated, open-air mechanical configuration cools rapidly under stress, mitigating high-temperature brake fade.
- ✔ Cost-Effective Simplicity: Simple mechanical cable overrides skip the need for expensive hydraulic fluid plumbing, making installations clean and highly affordable.
- ✔ Straightforward Servicing: Features an optimised, easy-access layout that lets DIY mechanics swap out standard 341103 brake pads quickly.
Product Disadvantages
- ✘ Manual Cable Adjustments Required: Overrides rely purely on hand-tensioned cable lines, meaning frequent physical updates are essential to compensate for routine brake pad wear.
- ✘ Limited Stopping Force: Provides lower direct kinetic bite force per millimetre compared to high-pressure multi-piston hydraulic setups.
- ✘ Axle Capacity Constraints: Maximum load capabilities are restricted to 1300kg paired loads on 13″/14″ wheel rims, dropping to 1000kg loads on larger 15″/16″ configurations.
Frequently Asked Questions
- 💬 What is the maximum load rating for these calipers?
They support up to 1350 kg per axle setup with smaller 13 to 14-inch rims, or 1000 kg when paired with 15 to 16-inch sizes. - 💬 When should I choose a Forward Pull over a Centre Pull style?
Forward pull designs are meant for traditional straight beam axles, while centre pull units cater strictly to space-confined Independent Rubber Suspension systems. - 💬 Which exact replacement brake pad model fits this system?
It natively accepts standard non-asbestos heavy-duty AL-KO 341103 replacement brake pads, as shown on the product label. - 💬 Can these work with any rotor dimensions?
These assemblies fit disc brake rotors from 10 mm to 15 mm.

2t Mechanical Disc Brake Caliper
In many cases, mechanical disc brake caliper parts for Alko calipers also fit other branded calipers.
It is ideal for 2t single-axle trailers, caravans and tandem trailers up to 2000kg. Further, mechanical calipers fit both 10-inch and 12-inch disc rotors.
There are four types of Al-ko mechanical caliper
- 1400kg forward Pull
- 1400kg centre pull
- 2000kg forward pull
- 2000kg centre pull
The maximum braking capacity is 1300kg on 16-inch Wheels and 1400kg on 14-inch wheels on 45mm Axles and larger.
- Mechanical Disc Brakes
- Galvanised disc caliper body and lever.
- Stainless steel sliding bushes and adjusting bolts.
- It suits both independent rubber-suspension axles and beam axles.
- Suitable for disc thickness from 10mm to 15mm.
- Disc and Caliper range to fit wheels from 13 inches to 16 inches in diameter.
- Dual brake ratios.
- Easy to operate and adjust.
Adjusting the cable removes slack from the stretched cable. Also, adjust the bolt on the Caliper to align the brake pads.
Popular mechanical disc caliper to suit 10-inch and 12-inch disc rotors.
